San Diego Mayors’ Cyber Cup
San Diego, CA – December 22, 2014 – Securing Our eCity Foundation is proud to help organize the 6th San Diego Mayor’s Cyber Cup from December until March 2015. San Diego Mayor’s Cyber Cup cyber defense competition is open to all San Diego high school student and brought to the community by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), UCSD, Leidos, National University and Computers for San Diego Kids. This joint effort is one of the hallmark science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) outreach initiatives.
Schools are encouraged to sign up now and form teams. Cyber experts are encouraged to sign up as mentors that can coach and help teams prepare for the competition. The Cyber Cup’s goal is to encourage students to learn more about computer security, provide an educational venue in which students are able to apply the theories and practical skills they have learned, and foster a spirit of teamwork, ethical behavior and effective communication both within and across teams.
This competition has created interest and awareness among participating schools and students while encouraging them to consider information assurance and computer security as possible career paths or courses of study in a higher education.
